Are you passionate about queer literature in Canada? Do you want to support the growth and development of queer literature through Canada’s queer literary magazine?
Join the Board of Plenitude Publishing Society!
Plenitude Publishing Society (PPS) is seeking volunteers to bring their unique skills and experiences to its Board of Directors.
Since 2012, Plenitude Magazine has published both established and emerging LGBTTQI writers, from first-time authors to Governor General’s Award winners. Plenitude has hosted several contests, as well as presenting three Emerging Writer Mentorship Awards.

Our Mandate:
Plenitude aims to promote the growth and development of LGBTTQI literature through the regular online publication of literary fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reviews, and cultural criticism by both emerging and established LGBTTQI writers, and to foster a community through an exchange of ideas and resources. Our view of queerness centres around Black and Indigenous people, people of colour, trans people, people with disabilities, youth, and elders.
We define queer literature as that which is created by LGBTTQI people, rather than that which features queer content alone. That said, we recognize that Plenitude readers are hungry for exceptional works that reflect queer histories, cultures, experiences, and sensibilities. Through our growing editorial collective, we aim to represent a diversity of identities and editorial expertise, thereby encouraging an equivalent diversity of submissions and readers.
Plenitude aims to complicate expressions of queerness through the publication of diverse, sophisticated literary writing, from the very subtle to the brash and unrelenting.

Plenitude Publishing Society is looking for board members with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and skill sets. The Board would benefit especially from members with prior experience on a non-profit society board and/or arts administration.
Working with the managing editor, Patrick Grace, the Board plays a governance role to ensure there is a robust and dynamic publishing program, financial stability, as well as a strong and inclusive organizational culture. To that end, the Board meets annually for the AGM with the managing editor to provide this oversight, support and guidance. The Board will also have an opportunity to work collaboratively with the managing editor on implementing special projects (such as readings, contests or other outreach projects) and/or fundraising campaigns.
If you are keen to join an organization dedicated to supporting the growth and development of LGBTTQI literature in Canada, please contact Patrick Grace at [email protected]. In your email, please tell us why you want to join the board, what skills/experience you hope to contribute, and any additional questions.
Deadline: May 7, 2019
