Plenitude Magazine is currently seeking permanent, part-time editors for two positions:
- Associate Poetry Editor
- Associate Prose Editor
The candidate will work with our current editors to oversee the regular online publication of poetry and prose from prominent and up-and-coming LGBTQ2s+ authors. Plenitude publishes two poems each month, and one fiction / creative nonfiction story each month, all year. Duties include:
- Regular reading of submissions sent via our Submittable platform, and accepting/rejecting submissions
- Working with authors to develop and edit their poetry or prose for publication, as necessary
- Coordinating with current poetry and prose editors to read and select pieces for publication each month or every other month, depending on your schedules
- Coordinating with the managing editor to maintain the publishing schedule
The ideal candidate will:
- Be very familiar with Plenitude and the style of work we publish
- Have a strong background in Canadian literature, especially from queer writers
- Be very familiar with the current Canadian landscape of poetry and prose (print and online literary magazines)
- Have professional editorial experience
- Be familiar with the Submittable website and platform
- Be committed to diversity in publishing, to publishing work that breaks new ground, and to representing marginalized voices
- Self-identify as a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community
Plenitude is a volunteer-run organization, but we offer an honorarium of $250 over the year (two payments of $125). The position requires a minimum of 5 hours per month and can be done from anywhere in Canada.
