Laura Mota-Juang Literature Poetry

unit of ordeal

when we lay on the sand as a triangle
trying to invoke some truthful looking,
there’s much disturbance.

might be the sky or the shadow of a leaf
that distract us
from actually staring at the upstairs’ void.

we have the unrealized knowledge that Space is red.
but whenever we look up we see a reflection of blue.
blue, droplets, and so many optional monuments.

it isn’t but the commitment of the head and feet
that connect themselves to me through my feet and head,
that forces me to show up in narrow focus.

I could, of course, lay here and think of the format
of the elephant shaped cloud. but then
I wouldn’t be part of this unit of ordeal: attention.

in this format there’s a purple willingness
to witness as a collective.
we desire the step after information,

the landing of actionable recognition.
