in the summer i swallow the sun
…………and i cry when my bare feet
touch the dirt
in the costco i watch
…………someone’s parents begin to
separately plan their divorce
in my dreams interdimensional
…………parking lots are all the rage
and i get lost between their floors
and awake when i’m in the air
…………i listen to the plane’s anemic engine
and wish my hands were
buried in a river somewhere
…………it doesn’t matter which river
it doesn’t matter which somewhere
in my dreams the salmon
…………swim upstream and become mermaids
in the shallow waters of their home
and in life
…………i’m the body on the shore
picked clean and left to wonder
