We are excited to announce that Shawn Syms has joined the Plenitude team as our new Book Reviews Editor! Shawn comes with a wealth of experience in the Canadian literary sphere, including past associate and contributing editor to The Winnipeg Review and reader for The Ex-Puritan and This Magazine.
Shawn Syms (he/him) is a queer author and critic based in Toronto/Tkaronto. His reviews have appeared in the National Post, Quill & Quire, Xtra, Canadian Literature, Our Times, Foreword Reviews, Gay and Lesbian Review, Literary Review of Canada and elsewhere. His fiction has been shortlisted for the Journey Prize.
Please join us in saying goodbye to Cara Nelissen, outgoing Book Reviews Editor. Cara has been with us since December 2020 and curated the book editor’s position into what it’s become today. She championed reviews of important LGBTQ2S+ literature by Meghan Kemp-Gee, Daniel Allen Cox, Natalie Wee, H. Felix Chau Bradley, and many more. We will miss you, Cara!
