The prize is open for submissions from September 15, 2016 until February 15, 2017, and is awarded to the best work of fiction by a LGBTTQI writer. We welcome submissions from writers of any nationality. In addition to publication in Plenitude magazine, the winning author receives a cash prize of $500. Every submission will be considered for publication. The shortlist will be announced in May, 2017, and the winning author, as well as two honourable mentions, will be announced June 1, 2017. The Cornucopia Literary Prize will be judged by Hiromi Goto. Hiromi Goto Hiromi Goto is the author of many books for youth and adults. Her writing has been honoured with The Commonwealth Writer’s Prize Best First Book, the Japan-Canada Book Award, and the James Tiptree Jr. Award, among others. Her first graphic novel, Shadow Life, with artist Celine Loup, will be published in 2018 with First Second Books. She is a mentor in The Writer’s Studio at SFU, an editor, and a mother. She lives with her partner on unceded Coast Salish Lands. Submission Guidelines All submissions must be previously unpublished and written in 11 or 12 point font. The documents must not have identifying information on them to ensure a blind reading process (remove your name, address, and contact information from the document itself), but please be sure to include this information, including the name of your story, in your cover letter. For short story contest submissions, please include a word count. Fiction submissions must be no longer than 3000 words. We welcome multiple entries. All submissions must be accompanied by a $15 PayPal donation (per entry). If your PayPal account differs from the email address you include in our Submission Form, please leave us a note indicating this discrepancy.
